Municipality Guide

The municipality Moldava lies on the hilltops of the Ore Mountains at an average altitude of 790 m. The area is divided into three parts – the upper Moldava, the lower Moldava and Nové Město. All these parts are approximately 2 km away from each other.

The upper part of Moldava is an administrative centre of the municipality. There is the Municipal Office, a library, a public internet station and a post office. There is also a border crossing to Saxony for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, a railway station, a gas station, a Vietnamese market and several restaurants and accommodation facilities.

The lower Moldava is the original and the oldest part of the municipality. It provides a place for living and recreation. There are a Catholic Chapel Navštívení Panny Marie, a cemetery, a restaurant and a hotel. A brook Mulda, which springs in forests above Moldava, waters two ponds used as more and more popular natural bathing places. The lower part of the municipality and a Saxony mountain resort Holzhau are connected with a pedestrian border crossing.

Nové Město is primarily a recreational area with a ski area for both cross-country skiing and downhill skiing. Many cycling and tourist routes lead through this place. There can be found restaurants, lodging houses and one gas station in Nové Město.

All three parts of Moldava have a regular bus connection with a town Hrob and a spa town Teplice. Nové Město and the upper Moldava are located on the railway line between Most and Moldava.
